Lots to bid on

In order to help raise support for our trip to Mexico in July, we have a blog up and running with items that local businesses have donated for our silent auction. We have everything from an IPod Shuffle, memberships to the MAC, the YMCA, Court One, an overnight stay at the Courtyard Marriot and dinner, a Longaberger basket with lots of goodies, gift certificates to restuarants and all sorts of other good stuff. Check it out! If you would like to bid on anything leave a comment and we will post your bid. Your comment will not show on the blog though. Bidding started Monday and will end this Sunday night at 8:00pm. Here's the website:

I am old...

I pulled out my first gray eyebrow hair this morning. I'm only 28 - this does not bode well for me...

Great Read

Last night I finished "Confessions of a Reformission Rev" by Mark Driscoll. What a great read. It was so good that last night I couldn't put it down - ended up reading the last 120 pages of the book. The first few chapters I read while I was working out at the Y - I realized you get a lot more out of a book when you read while you are sitting down rather than going up and down on an eliptical! The book really was amazing. It was a little scary with it's honesty about the trials of planting a church, but it was also very inspiring. To hear the rollercoaster type journey the church was and is on was very eye-opening. I laughed outloud a lot and even cried once. I know, I'm a girl - I'm allowed to cry when I read a book. It was amazing to see how God continually provided just what the church needed - sometimes just enough to allow them to stay afloat. Then to hear how random people started to come to the church and donate just the exact amount of money the church needed for a certain thing. This is definitely a book I will probably read again and again in the years to come.

Mexico Missions Trip

As most of you know, there is a group of about 50 of us going to Tijuana, Mexico in July with Amore Ministries. I am very excited and admittedly a little scared of going on this trip. I have never been on a missions trip outside of the US. I keep hearing horror stories about Tijuana and I wonder why I am taking my two small children there. I know it will be great and probably life-changing for all of us.

Anywho, we are having a big garage sale June 2nd and 3rd in the subdivision behind College heights. The subdivision is off of Dell Rd near College. We are also holding a silent auction to raise money for the trip. We actually have some really cool stuff up for auction - and IPod Shuffle, Memberships to the MAC, YMCA, and Court One, overnight stays at the Courtyard Marriot, Spa packages, Massages - all kinds of great stuff. Movie Night

I admit - I have been very bad about posting on my blog lately. Between Mexico stuff and Kids Kamp I am maxed out on time. Can't believe May is more than half over. Before I know it Summer will be done and the kids will be going to school. It's so true how people older than you always say that time goes by faster the older you get. I am now beginning to believe those "wise" people :)

I went and saw the "Da Vinci Code" tonight. It was a good movie. Don't want to say too much about the movie - but it was good. Interested to hear what other people have to say about the movie. The frustrating thing to me is how churches all around the country are freaking out about what the movie is about. The whole premise of the movie is that it is a FICTION book put to movie. It's not like the makers of the movie or the writer is going around preaching that this is fact and actual history. Even while watching the movie all I could think was that is was a fiction piece. It was interesting, but not something I would change my faith over. Do people watch other movies and change their beliefs according to what the movie talks about? No. this whole things just frustrates me. Sometimes I feel like Christians always need something to complain about - some soapbox to get on. Can you tell that this is my soap box right now? Argh...
